Joidy Blanco, the Venezuelan flutist is a highly distinguished artist, celebrated for her achievements in renowned international competitions including the Tchaikovsky International Competition, Kobe International Flute Competition, Nicolet International Flute Competition, Gazzelloni International Flute Competition, Internationaler Instrumentalwettbewerb Markneukirchen, Crusell International Flute Competition, Cluj International Music Competition, Yamaha Flute Competition, Kiefer Hablitzel | Goehner Musikpreis, Concours National de Musique de Riddes, the Murten Classics Valiant Wettbewerb and many more.
Born in Caracas, Venezuela, she embarked on her flute journey at the age of 8 within the prestigious "El Sistema" music education program founded by José Antonio Abreu. In her early years of musical development, she attended the Simon Bolivar Music Conservatory and The National Flute Academy.
Demonstrating exceptional talent, she made her solo debut at the age of 14 in Caracas, captivating the audience with her performance alongside the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra, where she fearlessly took on the challenging Jolivet Flute Concerto.
At the young age of 12 she held the position of solo flutist in the Teresa Carreño Youth Orchestra and at 14 years old she secured the flute position in the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra, collaborating with distinguished conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Claudio Abbado and Gustavo Dudamel.
Joidy's educational journey was enriched by her experiences at prestigious institutions. She began her voyage at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Lyon, where she had the privilege of being mentored by eminent flutists, including Philippe Bernold, Julien Beaudiment, Claude Lefebvre, and Gilles Cottin. Subsequently, she continued her educational pursuit at the Haute École de Musique de Genève, where her dedication and talent earned her two master's degrees in Interpretation and Orchestral Performance. Then she became a student at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía, under the mentorship of Jacques Zoon and Salvador Martínez, during this period she received a scholarship from the Fundación Albéniz, her commitment to excellence was further recognized when, in her very first year at the institution, Her Majesty Queen Sofía of Spain awarded her the Diploma for the "Most Outstanding Student" during the 2018-2019 academic year.
To enrich her musical knowledge and skills, she actively participated in masterclasses conducted by outstanding figures in the world of music, such as Emmanuel Pahud, James Galway, Peter-Lukas Graf, Andrea Lieberknecht, Silvia Careddu, Sebastian Jacot, Sarah Rumer, Michael Hasel, Jaime Martin, Shigenori Kudo, Alexa Still, Cornelia Grohmann, and many more.
Throughout her dynamic career she has graced the stage as a soloist alongside many orchestras, including The Mariinsky Orchestra, Rostov Philharmonic, Gottinger Symphonie Orchester, Hilaris Chamber Orchestra, Vogtland Philharmonie, Jousia Ensemble, Transilvania Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of HEMU, Lara Symphony Orchestra, and the Simon Bolivar Orchestra. Notably, she has also made significant contributions as a versatile freelance musician within distinguished orchestral ensembles such as the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Augsburger Philharmoniker, Orquesta Nacional de España, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, Opera National de Lyon, PluralEnsemble and Orquesta Filarmonía de Madrid.
Furthermore, Joidy has partnered with Spanish pianist Luis Arias to create a captivating duo that enchants audiences in various prestigious events in Spain. They have showcased their musical synergy in events such as Generación Ascendente, Fundación Juan March, and the AIE cycle "Ruta Clásicos." Their performances have resonated in venues including the Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Centro Cultural Caja Badajoz, Museo Lázaro Galdiano Madrid, Auditorio CICUS Sevilla, Auditorio Municipal Ciudad Real, and Civivox Codestable Pamplona.
More recently, she has taken on the role of an active jury member in both national and international music competitions. Furthermore, she has been generously sharing her expertise by conducting flute classes across Europe and America. Through these meaningful engagements, she remains dedicated to cultivating her passion for listening and mentoring.
